Strong Communities

Strengthening communities:

  • research shows that children learn best with the support of knowledgeable professionals and families;
  • CSCM centres are an integral part of the community and its families and have their own, individual identity;
  • strong connections are formed between families, staff and children;
  • families and the community assist the centres respond to community need through the guidance and support of the parent group of each centre;
  • staff, famiies and community members share information regularly to benefit each other in a valuable partnership;
  • staff and families learn from each other and respect the importance of their roles in children's learning and development; and
  • each community has unique characteristics and cultures which richly provide the context for the early childhood curriculum and program.

Education of the child shall be directed to: (d) The preparation of the child for responsible life in a free society, in the spirit of understanding, peace, tolerance, equality of sexes, and friendship among all peoples, ethnic, national and religious groups and persons of indigenous origin.
